Interested in Writing For The Guide Blog?
The Guide Writer Program: Our Standards, Your Effort.
Think you've got what it takes to write for The Guide? There's only one way to find out.
The Standards
The Guide Blog isn't for everyone. We offer two levels of partnership:
'Hit It and Quit It' // For those looking for a quick fix. Submit a paragraph and we’ll go from there.
'Make It Last' // 500 - 800 words. Fill ‘em up with what ya got.
In selecting new members for admission, we run all prospective candidates through a review process—with particular emphasis on three core qualities:
Insight:
Capability:
Confidence:
Exposure, connection, and perception. We’re in the business of giving young adults more control of their lives. Writing for a blog might seem like a stretch, but what we offer is an opportunity to explore the unwritten things that affect you in your life. We offer you a way to think about life that goes outside of the realms of a traditional education. Not everyone is prepared to take the leap, but those that do will find a writing home with us.
Our writers don’t take vacations but take adventures as a journalist in their own lives.

In selecting new members for admission, we run all prospective candidates through a review process—with particular emphasis on three core qualities:
Insight:
- Your writing offers a fresh perspective and unique lens into young adult life.
Capability:
- This is not a school essay or writing assignment. Your ability to convey a message precisely and concisely is what we expect.
Confidence:
- Topic and length are not as important as your delivery. Successful writers go where they go with intent and purpose. Get to the bottom of the story because you know you can.
- Be willing to take the leap out of your L.A. class box. Plenty of people can write an expository piece that'll satisfy an English teacher, but we want you to play, and take risks, in order to get across exactly what you want to say.
